Downham Tamil Association was founded in 1998  as a
cultural and educational organisation.

Today we serve the Tamil community in Downham and the
surrounding areas, providing a supplementary school teaching
academic subjects including English and Maths alongside classes
in the carnatic arts such as Miruthangam (Indian drumming) and Bharathanyam (Indian Dance).

The supplementary school holds gold award status from National  Contin You and were the first in the London area to reach this standard.

We are at heart of the community and we regularly hold events celebrating cultural and special occasions such as Saraswathy Pooja, Black History Month and Christmas. Emininet local figures, including Mayor Sir Steve Bullock and Heidi Alexander MP, attend these events and continue to support our work.
